Privacy Policy

ToolBench is built so that there is very little to write a privacy policy about. This page describes, plainly and completely, what happens to information when you use the site.

Last updated: October 2026

The short version

The tools on this site process your input entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type, paste, generate, or open in a tool is transmitted to us or stored by us. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and the site itself sets no cookies. The sections below cover the few exceptions and the third parties involved in serving any website.

What the tools do with your input

Every tool runs as JavaScript in the page you have open. When you generate a password, hash a string, compress an image, or convert a file, the computation happens on your device. Your input and the results are held only in the page's memory: they are not sent over the network, not written to a database, and not kept after you close or reload the tab. We could not show you a history of your generated passwords even if we wanted to — no copy ever reaches us.

Information we collect

We do not operate user accounts, comment systems, or mailing lists, and we do not run analytics that profile visitors. We do not collect names, email addresses, or the contents of anything you process with the tools. If you contact us by email once our address is published, we will of course receive the message you choose to send, and we will use it only to reply and to improve the site.

Local storage: the theme preference

The one thing the site stores on your device is your display preference. If you switch between the dark and light theme, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage so the next page you open looks the same. This entry contains nothing but the word "dark" or "light". It is never transmitted to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data in your browser's settings, and the toggle will simply start from the default again.

Cookies

The site itself does not set cookies. The third-party services described below — fonts today, and advertising if it is added in the future — may have their own practices, which are covered in their own sections.

Server logs

Like every website, ToolBench is served by a hosting provider, and the provider's servers automatically record standard technical logs for each request: the page requested, the time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and similar delivery data. These logs exist so the host can operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not use server logs to identify or profile individual visitors, and we do not combine them with any other information — there is no other information to combine them with.

Google Fonts

Pages on this site load typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font file, that request goes to Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of serving the file, under Google's own privacy policy. If you prefer, most browsers can block third-party font requests; the site will simply fall back to system fonts and keep working.

Advertising

ToolBench does not currently serve advertising. If advertising is added later to support the site's running costs, it is likely to be provided by a third-party network such as Google AdSense. Networks of that kind typically use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites, subject to your consent choices and your settings with the network. If advertising is introduced, this policy will be updated first, and a consent notice will be shown where the law requires one. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that run its services, and control ad personalisation, through Google's own privacy and advertising settings pages.

Children

The site is a general-purpose set of utilities. It is not directed at children, and because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children either.

Your choices

Because so little data exists, most privacy choices here are simple: clear your browser's site data to remove the theme preference, use your browser's settings to block third-party requests you do not want, and contact us if you believe we hold any information about you that you would like explained or deleted. If you emailed us, you can ask for that correspondence to be deleted, and we will do so.

Changes to this policy

If the site's practices change — most importantly, if advertising or any new third-party service is introduced — this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the "last updated" date above will change with it. We will not quietly expand what is collected.
